The Barber of Seville (Il barbiere di Siviglia) is one of the most famous comic operas in the world, and the refrain "Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!" has long become a favorite of millions of viewers.
Nina Naydenova playfully explores the famous quote "Folly and vanity go hand in hand" by Pierre de Beaumarchais, the author of the play The Barber of Seville (Il barbiere di Siviglia). Her original staging decisions and surprises for the audience strengthen the satire embedded in the libretto and carry direct references to the contemporary political scene. The costumes and masks by artist Nikolina Kostova-Bogdanova, along with the choreography by Boryana Sechanova, highlight the strong individuality of all the characters, while the set designer, Elitsa Georgieva, transports the audience to Seville by transforming an entire section of the Ancient Theatre into an orange grove.
